As part of our development cooperation, we help people to cut loose and make a living. We focus on the development of health care and social protection as well as  rural development and environmental protection and actively work on systemic changes in Georgia.

Primary healthcare is the gateway of the healthcare system, which is responsible for preventing diseases and protecting the population from further complications of diseases. As such, primary healthcare protects the next levels of healthcare from being overloaded. Caritas Czech Republic supports the Government of Georgia in strengthening primary healthcare – works on updating clinical protocols, capacity-building of family doctors, and promoting the introduction of a unified electronic management information system throughout the whole country.

How telemedicine helps rural family doctors in managing patients' conditions remotely

Telemedicine allows doctors to assess, diagnose and treat patients remotely. The severe situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has once again made clear the need to introduce telemedicine in Georgia. To ensure access to continuous and high-quality medical care for mothers and children, Caritas Czech Republic with the support of UNICEF, facilitated the start of remote medical services in rural pilot clinics and created a structure for continuous improvement of the quality of primary healthcare services on the basis of the Union of Family Medicine Professionals of Georgia.
