Together with UNICEF, we Start Working on Introduction of Remote Services at PHC Level

Supporting child and maternal health at primary healthcare (PHC) became one of the main priorities of Caritas Czech Republic’s work, especially during COVID-19. After fruitfully cooperating with UNICEF within two previous projects, we started a new initiative aiming at accessing quality maternal and child health (MCH) services at the rural PHC level through the introduction of remote healthcare services and the establishment of Primary Healthcare Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement Hub. The project financially supported by UNICEF, USAID and EU started in July 2022 and involves the doctors of 50 ambulatories across the whole country.

"Disability, Bioethics and Human Rights in Health" Round Table Brings Together PwDs' NGOs

Caritas Czech Republic has been addressing the disability issue for years aiming at protecting the rights of persons with disabilities (PwDs) and providing them with proper service. Since 2022, together with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia Country Office, we are carrying out a project that will support the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) under the Joint Programme “Leave No One Behind — From Policy and Principles to Practice in Disability-Inclusive Development in Georgia”. To this end, UNFPA Country Office and Caritas Czech Republic held a meeting with the representatives of the Parliament of Georgia and the PwD community to discuss the challenges the latter meets in healthcare sector and initiate respective changes in Georgian healthcare legislation.

Supporting rural development has been one of the flagships of Caritas Czech Republic’s work in Georgia for years. Within various donor fundings, our organization has worked on diversification of the rural economy by supporting farmers and entrepreneurs from different regions of the country. Currently, we are launching a new project that aims at increasing the income of the beef farmers from Tusheti, Pshav-Khevsureti, and Khulo Municipality by ensuring efficient production resources and inputs, the necessary knowledge, market access and value-added opportunities. The initiative is financially supported by the Czech Development Agency.

Caritas Czech Republic launches DG ECHO-funded project to help refugees in Moldova

Moldova, the poorest country in Europe, has received the largest number of refugees per capita since the start of the war in Ukraine. Although the country welcomed refugees with open arms, it soon reached the limits of its capacity. Caritas Czech Republic launched a project in Moldova to help vulnerable refugees. In total, we will support over 200,000 refugees, relieving the overburdened Moldovan state.
