Oni municipality already has an assenization vehicle to set up the wastewater management infrastructure

Caritas Czech Republic is working on the implementation of sustainable waste management practices in Georgia by capacity-building of specialists and providing the necessary infrastructure for waste management in rural areas. From September 2022, with the support of the Slovak Development Agency and in cooperation with the Slovak organization Sosna, we are working on an initiative to support the sustainable management of wastewater in the municipality of Oni. Within the framework of the project, last week we handed over an assenization vehicle to the Oni Municipality City Hall, which will help the municipality in setting up the wastewater management infrastructure.

Rural hospitals in west Georgia now have onco-gynecological medical equipment

Caritas Czech Republic has been working on cancer prevention for years. In 2019, with the financial support of the Czech Development Agency, we built and equipped Zugdidi Screening Center which enables the population of West Georgia to receive screening services on the spot. Since 2022, Within the Czech MEDEVAC program-supported project, Caritas Czech Republic closely partnered with Georgian Medical Holding, and as a result, hospitals of Batumi and Rukhi now have onco-gynecological medical equipment that will prevent the local population from traveling to Tbilisi, the capital city, for receiving endoscopic examinations.

This concerns not only physical access to healthcare facilities but also other barriers such as attitudes and stigmas, and lack of respective skills among healthcare professionals. To address this problem, our organization is involved in a project that will lay the foundation for ensuring equitable and inclusive access to quality and gender-sensitive healthcare services for persons with disabilities.

Ulyana Popova іs a psychologist, who has been working for Caritas Ukraine for more than 4 years. Since the beginning of the war, her work has changed completely. She helps people forced by the war out of their homes to safer parts of Ukraine overcome war horrors and integrate into their new reality. She helps people to learn how to live a normal life in the shadow of the war. Caritas Czech Republic provides psychological training for specialists like Ulyana.

With SlovakAid Support, We Start a New Initiative for Sustainable Wastewater Management in Georgia

Caritas Czech Republic has been working on the establishment of sustainable waste management practices in Georgia through capacity building and development of waste management infrastructure, including the provision of consultancy services as well as technical assistance to target municipalities. After gaining valuable experience in environmental protection, since September 2022, we are starting a new project for promoting sustainable wastewater management in the Oni Municipality. The initiative is financially supported by SlovakAid and we will work in close partnership with the Slovak development organization Sosna.
