Climate change is no doubt one of the biggest threats that humankind is facing at the moment. It is no longer an agenda of only environmental organisations. Climate and its changes are affecting all of us – developed countries, who take the biggest piece of responsibility for the current climate change happening, as well as developing countries who suffer the most from climate change. We are all part of the solution.

How is Caritas reducing its environmental footprint

At Caritas Czech Republic we are oftentimes responding to man-made disasters that are affecting communities in different parts of the world. While wars or inadequate state administration tend to create more visible crisis, a growing number of issues we are facing are related to the environment and its deterioration. We know that if we do not change the way we live and work, the situation will only get worse. This is why we are introducing series of efforts to push for greater environmental sustainability of our work.

Together with SlovakAid, Caritas supports winemakers, butchers and other businesses in Racha

The damage caused by the Covid-19 pandemic to the economy and human well-being is especially severe in the mountainous regions of Georgia, where the majority of the population is dependent on tourism and entrepreneurship is less developed. In order to reduce the negative impact of the pandemic, Caritas Czech Republic provided grant assistance to small and medium businesses (SMEs) in the region of Racha.

The Embassy of Israel and the Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation (Mashav) purchased toys and materials for children with special needs, which were donated to the kindergarten. The Ambassador of Israel to Georgia Ran Gidor and the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Georgia Peter Mikiska attended the event.

It is great opportunity not only to celebrate the unique talents of the persons with autism and to spotlight the problems these people face every day, but also to recall all of accomplishment Czech Caritas has made in improving services for persons with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) in Georgia during last five years.
