As a quick response to COVID-19 pandemic, Khulo Evex hospital, in the framework of the EU-funded ENPARD II project “Promotion of rural development and diversification in Khulo Municipality” has been provided with medical equipment and disposables with total value of 19000 GEL.
The purpose of activity is to increase capacity of local hospital, which on its side will provide local population with safe medical services.Supplied medical equipment includes disposable medical masks, medical face shields, medical eye shields, disposable and isolation gowns, cardiac monitor and other related items.
“It should be mentioned, that the activity was not planned, but because of force-majeure situation, we decided to cooperate with local hospital and planned joint activity. This kind of events are increasing reliability of local hospitals, which is very important during the pandemic to prevent the deepening of crisis and panic among the local population, as well to mitigate of post pandemic economic and social crisis” stated ENPARD Khulo project manager, Giorgi Murvanidze.
Khulo hospital employs about 70 medical staff and provides daily medical or consultation service to 85-90 locals. As the manager of the hospital says “The hospital is one of the riskiest facilities in the face of pandemic, so equipped medical staff and protection of safety measures is crucial to the hospital's flawless operation."
The EU is supporting agriculture and rural development in Georgia through its ENPARD Programme. Implemented since 2013 with a total budget of EUR 179.5 million, the main goal of ENPARD is to reduce rural poverty in Georgia. The first phase of ENPARD in Georgia focused on developing the potential of agriculture.
