Establishment of Children’s long-term care services in Georgia

Establishment of Children’s long-term care services in Georgia” is one of the projects initiated by the Ministry of Health (MoILHSA) with the financial support of Czech Development Agency. The project has been implemented by Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia (CCRG) since November, 2017.

On september 25, the result of the project, namely the regulatory framework for institutional development of children’s long-term care were presented by the project manager and consultants of CCRG at the Ministry. The meeting was opened by the Deputy Minister Tamar Barkalaia who expressed her gratitude for supporting this project without which this project would not be implemented. “We strive to develop services which are child-friendly. We’ve been successful in closing down big institutions where children with disabilities were living. And these children need special care which they cannot received at the family type homes. Therefore, this project is filling in the gap of services”, mentioned Tamar Barkalaia.
“Very often people think that it is important to support economic development activity. But of course of great importance is to support health, social and cultural initiatives. We are glad that we are supporting this initiative, not only trainings and consultancy support but also through providing medical equipment. Also this cooperation between the ministry, Embassy, Agency and non-governmental sector is very fruitful and we hope that we will continue it in the future”, said the Ambassador of Czech Republic to Georgia H.E. Petr Mikyska at the meeting.
