Strengthening Maternal and Child health component of the PHC system

Full name of Project:  Strengthening Maternal and Child health component of the PHC system by mainstreaming child development aspects including COVID-19 lessons

  • Project Duration: October 2020-August 2021

  • Description: The recent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak brought to the fore the important role that PHC could play in maintaining routine care related to other health conditions including children-oriented health services. The COVID-19 pandemic threatens to disrupt the provision of essential services to children. In spite of using online consultations in PHC, lessons from the COVID-19 outbreak showed that there is a lack of care standards delivered via telehealth. Use of existing applicable clinical best practice guidelines when providing care via telehealth is essential for quality of care including related to child health services. The essential part of cooperation with UNICEF Georgia is the development of clinical pathways for virtual child health-oriented visits that will be used in conjunction with all applicable standards, protocols, and policies and procedures needed for service provision. In addition, this project will ensure an integration of child health and development related data at the PHC level into real time electronic Management Information System of Caritas Czech Republic intended as mainstreaming tool for strengthening the Primary Healthcare in Georgia.
