Mitigating the Negative Economic Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Population of Racha

  • Description: The presented project aims at strengthening local population in Racha-Lechkhumi region to cope with the economic consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic through material and technical support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and socially vulnerable families. Thanks to provision of material assistance to SMEs and agricultural inputs to socially vulnerable families, the beneficiaries will be able to maintain, revive or diversify their economic and/or livelihood activities and thus to overcome negative impact of Covid-19 pandemic and related preventive measures on their economic situation.The project was developed based on the priorities of Development Strategy the of Racha-Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti Region (2014-2021) as well as Anti-Crisis Plan of the Government of Georgia and fully corresponds to its plan how to overcome the economic crisis caused by Covid-19 pandemic. The project will be implemented in cooperation with Oni and Ambrolauri Municipalities and representatives of Social Service Agency, which already participated in project designing phase. The targeted region of the project were selected based on the vulnerability criteria. The project is in line with SDG1 „No poverty“ and SDG8 „Decent work and economic growth“.
