  • Description: The Project aims to improve early detection of autism spectrum disorder, support rehabilitation and social services for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ADS) and promote professional development of Georgian specialists working in the field. The project is funded by Czech Development Agency. The project was designed in close cooperation with MoILHSA and Child Development Institute of Ilia State University and is based on the result of the previous project implemented by the CCR “Development of services for children with autism spectrum disorders in Georgia”. Within the previous project, the State Protocol on identification, diagnosis and management of autism spectrum disorder was approved by MoILHSA and a newly approved state protocol was introduced in four regions of Georgia. As a result, 117 PHC professionals were trained in early identification of autism; 34 behavior analysts took part in the professional trainings (ABLLS-Rand “Essential of Living”); in four regions -Achara, Imereti, Samegrelo and Kakheti, the diagnostics of autism though ADOS-2 tool is available and implemented by local specialists‘team trained within the project; Three kindergarten groups of children with autism spectrum started functioning at kindergarten # 192 of Tbilisi, kindergarten # 15 of Zugdidi and kindergarten #7 of Telavi. The local kindergarten Management Agencies in Tbilisi, Zugdidi, Telavi took forward funding of special teachers of kindergartens started by CCR.
